Full bridge rectifier

Image
Full bridge rectifier A Full wave rectifier is a circuit arrangement which makes use of both half cycles of input alternating current (AC) and converts them to direct current (DC).  How it works- Depiction of the working of a full bridge rectifier Materials- 4 1N4007 diodes, a 500v capacitor ,  transformer of your choice(optional),  solder iron and solder metal. Procedure- Connect the diodes as shown in the figure and solder them . Connect the capacitor in parallel to the output wires(not shown).you can connect these arrangement to either a transformer or directly to the power supply. Precautions- Diodes are not supposed to be connected in reverse bias. A.C is dangerous, handle the apparatus carefully. You can keep the arrangement in a plastic box for safety purposes.

Making your own transformer

Making your own transformer So, basically a trans former is an arrangement of 2coils wound around a core which either steps up or reduces down the voltage(alternating). The principle of transformer is mutual inductance that if change in flux in a coil induces a change in flux of another coil then the coils are said to be coupled.and this phenomenon is called mutual inductance. Materials Iron core , 27SWG wire, 30 SWG wire, insulation like teflon tape Procedure 1. Take the core and wrap it first with teflon tape completely. 2.take the 30SWG wire and wind it on the core, evenly. 3. Now take the 27 SWG wire and wind it with comparatively lesser turns. Testing Once you are all done you can just connect it to the city power supply and test it with the help of a multimeter.you can choose any wire as input wire according to your need for a step up or step down transformer. Precautions 1 A.C. is really dangerous, handle all the things with care. 2. If there is a problem tha...

A.C. generator

Image
A.C. generator An A.C. generator is an  electric generator that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy in form of alternative emf or alternating current. AC generator works on the principle of ”Electromagnetic Induction”.                                                                                                                            Parts of an AC Generator An Ac generator consists of two poles i.e is the north pole and south pole of a magnet so that we can have a uniform magnetic field. There is also a coil which is rectangular in shape that is the armature. These coils are connected to the slip rings and attached to them are carbon brus...

Alternating current

Image
Alternating current is the current whose magnitude changes with time periodically. Instantaneous value of alternating current is given by,                    I= I○ sin ωt or I= I○cos  ωt. Where I○= peak or maximum value of A.C. or amplitude of A.C.; I= value of current at instant t. ω= 2π/T =2πf = angular frequency of A.C. ; T= time period I.e. time taken to complete one full cycle. F= frequency of A.C. Similarly, alternating e.m.f. changes in magnitude continuously with time and reverses it's direction periodically. Instantaneous value of alternating e.m.f .  is given by E= E○ sin  ωt  or E= E○cos  ωt.  The Average ,RMS, and peak value of alternating current and Alternating Voltage Mean or average value of an alternating current and voltage It is defined as that value of steady current which would sent same amount of charge through a circuit in the time of half cycle (π/2)as is sent by the A...
